Parking sensor packing and mounting station

Summary:

The Sensor Assembly and Packaging Station (VW + Honda) is a semi-automatic station in which the operator manually load and unload the incoming and outgoing product trays and feed the Honda clips.

The manipulation of each sensor, the reading of its DataMatrix code and the processes of inserting or pressing the clip (Honda), pre-positioning (VW) of the sensor and pressing the entire tray sensors (VW) are the automatic processes of the station

From the construction point of view, the station is formed as an independent structure made of aluminum profile on which the elements of the following process modules or functional units are arranged:

  • Set for product input tray (blister) feeding.
  • Robot
  • Handling grippers with RFID coding
  • Circular and linear clip feeder Honda.
  • DataMatrix Code Reader (DMC)
  • Clip-to-sensor press or insert assembly (Honda).
  • Set of artificial vision cameras (to check insertion or pressing of Honda clip to sensor).
  • VW tray press set
  • Gripper Coding Read / Write Unit
  • Set for product outlet tray (blister) extraction
  • Red container for bad part segregation

At the control and visualization level, the station is equipped with its corresponding controller (PLC) and display (HMI).

The operation of the system will be:

  1. Product input tray (blister) feed.
    a. Machine operator presents (feeds) product inlet tray (blister) as a whole for feeding.
    b. Automatically, the product input tray (blister) moves inside the station where it is fixed.
  2. Clip feed to circular feeder (Honda only).
    a. Machine operator loads bagged clips into circular vibrator.
    b. Circular and linear vibrator set present clip, individually, to insertion or pressing set from clip to sensor.
  3. Tray feed (blister) of product output.
    a. Machine operator places empty product outlet tray (blister) in evacuation assembly.
    b. Automatically, the product exit tray (blister) moves inside the station where it is fixed.
  4. Tray sensor loading (blister) of product input.
    a. Robot picks up product input tray (blister) sensor.
    b. Robot presents sensor to DataMatrix code reader for reading code located in Lid of the sensor.
  5. Clip insertion or pressing (Honda only).
    a. Robot places sensor in clip-to-sensor press or insert assembly.
    b. Insertion or pressing unit places clip on sensor.
  6. Clip insert or crimp check (Honda only).
Two (2) machine vision cameras (one on each side of the sensor) inspect correct insertion or pressing of the clip on the sensor:
    a. Verification of correct “pressing” of clip on sensor.
    b. Checking that “pressing” tab is not missing, damaged or broken,
  7. Sensor discharge to product outlet tray (blister) (Honda only).
    a. Robot picks up sensor from inserting or pressing assembly .
    b. Robot places sensor in tray (blister) of product exit.
  8. Sensor discharge to product outlet tray (blister) (VW only).
    a. Robot places sensor in tray (blister) of product exit with a so-called prepositioning.
  9. Product outlet tray (blister) evacuation
    a. Completed (or partially completed) product exit tray (blister) is automatically evacuated outside the station.
    b. Tray (blister) of product output is pressed in its entirety to ensure correct placement of sensors in it (VW only).
    c. Machine operator removes product outlet tray (blister) from evacuation assembly.
    d. Machine operator places new empty product outlet tray (blister) in evacuation assembly.
    e. Automatically, the product exit tray (blister) moves inside the station where it is fixed.
